Vintage 50s silk organza dress most-likely worn once only as a prom dress. The fitted bodice is pintucked at front and trimmed with a band of lace across the top. Edges are trimmed with satin binding. Has a wide, softly-pleated inset waistband. The gorgeous full skirt has an inset panel of lace near the hips with pintucking above.
Bodice lining and underskirt are nude-coloured taffeta. Closes at the back with a long metal zip. The only label is a small Ladies Garment Workers Union tag.
The vintage 50s silk organza dress is a rare find.
Vintage clothing only sells genuine, original vintage fashions.
Please note I have added a crinoline petticoat to show how dress was originally worn which is not included in price.
Condition Very good. The black silk has lost some colour through the ageing process but it still looks wonderful. It is just not jet black. There are also 2 very small holes (side back) in the skirt. One about 1mm and the other about 3 mm. They get lost in the full skirt. Also a couple of small marks on underskirt which aren’t visible from outside.
Size very small (approx AU 6)
Please check measurements as the waist measurements were very small and the girls shorter in the 1950s. Measurements are measured flat on dress so please remember to allow room to move. It is always a good idea to check measurements against a dress that you know fits
